Open your Bible and read Ephesians 4:25-32
“Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”
Ephesians 4:32 · ESVSomebody did something to you that they never made right. You did not deserve it. Saying that plainly is not bitterness, it is honesty, and God is not asking you to pretend it was fine.
Forgiveness is not saying it did not matter. It is not trusting them again, and it is not putting yourself back within reach of harm. Forgiveness is dropping the debt. You stop being the one who collects. You hand the account over to a Judge who is far better at justice than you are.
Why would you do that? Because a debt you could never have paid was dropped for you. All of it, at the cross, before you cleaned anything up.
Unforgiveness does not punish them. It just keeps you tied to the worst day of your life. Let it go and get your hands back for something better.

Say their name out loud and say this: I forgive you, I release the debt, in Jesus name.
Say this out loud
“I forgive because I was forgiven a debt I could never pay. I am not the collector anymore.”
