Open your Bible and read 2 Corinthians 5:14-21
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”
2 Corinthians 5:17 · ESVAddict. Failure. Liar. Coward. The one nobody stays for. You know which word your mind reaches for at two in the morning.
Somewhere along the way you agreed with it. Maybe a parent said it, maybe you earned it, maybe you just repeated it so many times it became furniture. Here is the problem. That name belongs to a person who died with Christ. You are a new creation. The old has passed away.
Breaking agreement is not positive thinking. It is telling the truth about what actually happened to you. You do it out loud, on purpose, and you replace the old name with what God says. Chosen. Holy. Blameless. Righteous. His.
You will have to do this more than once, and that is fine. Every time the old name shows up, refuse it again. It has no legal claim on you anymore. Jesus buried it and you do not have to answer!
Do this today
Write down the old label you still answer to, cross it out, and write what God calls you instead.
Say this out loud
“I am a new creation. The old me is gone and I refuse to answer to a name Jesus already buried.”
