Day 39 of 60 · Freedom

Sin Has No Dominion

Open your Bible and read Romans 6:1-14

“For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.”

Romans 6:14 · ESV

Dominion is a legal word. It means rule, authority, the right to give orders. Paul says the thing that used to run you lost its authority the day you came to Christ.

Notice what he does not say. He does not say you will never feel the pull again. He says it has no right to command you anymore. There is a big difference between an owner and a beggar at the door, and that habit is now the beggar.

And look at what breaks the power. Not law. Not white knuckles, not shame, not another promise you make at midnight. Grace. The more you actually believe you are righteous, the less that old thing fits the person you now are.

If you fell yesterday, do not go into hiding. Hiding is what feeds it. Come straight back into His presence, thank Him for the blood, and keep walking.

Do this today

Name the habit out loud and tell it: you have no dominion over me, I am under grace.

Say this out loud

“Sin has no dominion over me. I am not under law, I am under grace, and grace is stronger than my habit.”
