Day 21 of 60 · The Holy Spirit

He Prays When You Cannot

Open your Bible and read Romans 8:18-30

“Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.”

Romans 8:26 · ESV

There will be days when you have nothing. No words, no strength, no idea what to even ask for.

Read that verse again. The Spirit HELPS you in your weakness. God did not build the Christian life around your ability to hold it together. He knew you would come apart sometimes, and He put a Helper inside you for exactly those hours.

When you cannot pray, He is praying. When all you can manage is the name of Jesus through tears, that is a complete prayer and heaven hears it. He is called the Comforter for a reason. Not the Inspector. Not the Judge. The Comforter, who draws close when you are at your worst instead of backing away.

If today is a heavy one, stop trying to perform for God. Sit down and let Him carry it.

Do this today

If words will not come today, just say the name of Jesus slowly a few times and let that be your prayer.

Say this out loud

“The Spirit helps me in my weakness. Even when I have no words, I am being prayed for.”
