Open your Bible and read Mark 10:35-45
“For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
Mark 10:45 · ESVThe disciples were arguing about who would get the good seats. Jesus answered by describing what He came to do, which was serve and then die for them.
Get one thing straight before you sign up for anything. You do not serve to earn His approval. You cannot earn it, and chasing it will wear you out and make you resent the very people you are serving. You already have His approval. It was handed to you the day you believed, and no amount of volunteering adds a single point to it.
Which is exactly what frees you to take the job nobody wants. Set up chairs. Park cars. Take out trash. Hold babies. When there is nothing to prove, the low place stops feeling like a demotion.
Serve from His approval, never for it. That is the difference between joy and burnout.
Do this today
Volunteer for one job at your church this week, preferably one nobody else wants.
Say this out loud
“I serve from His approval, not for it. I am already accepted, so I can take the low place.”
