Day 31 of 60 · Prayer and worship

Bring Him The Real Thing

Open your Bible and read Psalm 62

“Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us. Selah”

Psalm 62:8 · ESV

Half the prayers people pray get edited before they ever leave the mouth. You tidy it up. You reach for the words you think He wants to hear. Meanwhile the real thing sitting in your chest never gets said.

He already knows. Nothing you say will shock Him and nothing you hide will impress Him. David wrote pour out your heart before Him, and the Psalms are full of raw, unpolished, sometimes ugly honesty. That is in your Bible on purpose.

Here is why you can do this. You are righteous RIGHT NOW. Not because the prayer was well worded, but because He who knew no sin BECAME sin so you could become the righteousness of God. The verdict is already in. You are not pleading with a judge who is still deciding about you. You are talking with a Father who chose you before the foundation of the world.

So say the real thing today. The anger. The doubt. The thing you are embarrassed to name. Say it out loud. He can handle all of you!

Do this today

Pray out loud for two minutes about the one thing you have been avoiding saying to Him.

Say this out loud

“I can come to God exactly as I am, because I am already righteous in Christ and He is not weighing me.”
