Open your Bible and read Mark 2:13-17
“And when Jesus heard it, he said to them, 'Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.'”
Mark 2:17 · ESVHere is a strange plan people make. I will get some things in order first, then come to God once I am less of a mess. Read who Jesus was eating with when the religious crowd complained. Tax collectors, which in that world meant collaborators who robbed their own neighbors legally. He was not tolerating them at a distance. He was at the table.
Then He gave the line that ends the whole argument. Sick people are the ones who need a doctor. Waiting until you are well before seeing a physician is not humility, it is just backwards.
Nobody has ever arrived clean. Not one person in Scripture, not one person in any church you could walk into on Sunday, whatever their face suggests.
The requirement is not being good enough. There is no version of you that would be. The only requirement is showing up as you actually are.
