Day 5 of 60 · Who you are now

Adopted, Not On Probation

Open your Bible and read Romans 8:12-17

“For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, 'Abba! Father!'”

Romans 8:15 · ESV

There is a difference between a servant and a son, and God settled which one you are. A servant works to stay in the house. A son already belongs to it. A servant watches the master's face for signs of displeasure. A son climbs into his father's lap.

Abba is the word a small child uses for their dad. That is the word the Spirit puts in your mouth when you pray. Not Your Honor. Not Sir. Dad.

Maybe your own father was absent, or harsh, or something worse. Do not hand God that face. He is the Father you were made for, and He adopted you on purpose, with full legal rights, forever. Nobody adopts a child by accident.

You are not on probation in this family. You are HIS.

Do this today

Pray one short sentence out loud that starts with the word Father, and mean it.

Say this out loud

“I am not a slave. I am a son of God, adopted by the Father, and I belong in His house.”
