Day 48 of 60 · Living it out

Love The Ones Who Cost You

Open your Bible and read Luke 6:27-36

“But I say to you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you,”

Luke 6:27 · ESV

Some people are easy to love. Then there is the one who makes your shoulders climb toward your ears when their name comes up.

Jesus was not vague about this. Love your enemies. Do good to the ones who hate you. He did not say feel warm about them, He said do good to them, and doing usually comes before feeling.

Where does that kind of love come from? Not from you working it up. It comes from what you received. While you were still a sinner, still running the other way, still with nothing to offer, Christ died for you. That is the love now living inside you, and it does not run out.

Start with a blessing spoken out loud over the hardest person in your life. It is very hard to keep resenting somebody you are genuinely asking God to bless.

Do this today

Pray a blessing out loud, by name, over the person who is hardest for you to love.

Say this out loud

“I can love hard people because I was loved first, while I was still a sinner.”
