Open your Bible and read Hebrews 12:3-11
“For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives.”
Hebrews 12:6 · ESVSooner or later He will put His finger on something in you. A habit, an attitude, a relationship, the way you talk about someone. It will be uncomfortable. It is also one of the kindest things He does.
Do not confuse discipline with punishment. Punishment for your sin already fell, and it fell on Jesus, in full. There is none left over for you. Discipline is what a Father does with a son He is raising, and Scripture calls it proof that you belong to Him.
He is not correcting you to make you righteous. You already ARE righteous. He is correcting you because your behavior is lagging behind your identity and He loves you too much to leave you comfortable there.
So when He puts His finger on something, do not run or hide. Agree with Him quickly. That is the shortest road there is.
Do this today
Ask Him out loud if there is anything He is putting His finger on, then sit quiet for two minutes and listen.

“God corrects me as a son, not as a defendant. His discipline is proof of His love.”
