Open your Bible and read Psalm 27:1-8
“One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to inquire in his temple.”
Psalm 27:4 · ESVDavid had armies, enemies and a kingdom to run, and he narrowed his whole prayer life down to one request. Let me look at You.
God is not a vending machine and He is not a hotline. He is a Person, and He desires your affection. Think about how it feels when someone only calls you when they need something. He is far more gracious than we are about it, and He still longs to be wanted for Himself.
So try an experiment. Go to Him today and bring nothing to ask for. No list. No problem to solve. Just adoration. Tell Him He is beautiful. Tell Him He is good. Sit there and gaze, which is a slow word on purpose.
Your needs are real and He already knows every one of them. Today, let Him be the point.
Do this today
Pray for three minutes today without asking God for anything at all.
Say this out loud
“I want God Himself more than I want anything He can give me.”
