Open your Bible and read Psalm 103:1-14
“as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.”
Psalm 103:12 · ESVFor the next stretch, forget arguments for a bit and look at what is actually being offered. Start with the thing most people quietly want and assume is off the table.
Total forgiveness. Not most of it. Not the presentable parts. The thing you have never told your spouse. The thing you would take to your grave. Past, present, and the failures still ahead of you, all of it on that blank check.
North and south have a fixed distance between them. East and west never meet. The writer chose that direction on purpose.
The obvious objection is that this sounds like a loophole for people who hurt others. Fair. But forgiveness is not pretending it did not happen or that it did not matter. It is a real debt actually paid by someone else. And people who receive it tend to become gentler, not more careless. What would you bring first?
Do this today
Write down the one thing you assume could never be forgiven, then fold the paper and keep it.
An honest thing to say to God
“God, there is one thing I cannot imagine being forgiven. You already know what it is.”
