Open your Bible and read Mark 2:1-12
“Why does this man speak like that? He is blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?”
Mark 2:7 · ESVFour men tear open a roof to lower their paralyzed friend down in front of Jesus. The whole room knows what they came for. He looks at the man and forgives his sins instead.
The religious scholars sitting there were not being stupid. Their logic was airtight. Sin is against God, so only God can clear it. A carpenter from Nazareth doing that in a crowded house is either God or the most arrogant man who ever lived.
Notice that Jesus does not walk it back. He does not say they misunderstood him. He gives them a test they can see with their eyes, tells the man to get up, and the man gets up.
You can decide the story did not happen. That is an honest position. What you cannot do is file him under harmless moral teacher. He did not leave that shelf open.
Do this today
Read Mark 2:1-12 and notice what the crowd came for versus what he did first.
An honest thing to say to God
“If this man is who he claimed to be, I want to see it clearly.”
